Complaint

Customers who find the fee too high hear about service cut-offs and sanctions

Reported by: J. P. · When you dispute the fee · ★☆☆☆☆

Last updated:

In the reported cases, when the customer objects that the requested fee is too high, the fee is not discussed; instead the customer is reminded that the service will be stopped, that the contact-person or address entry will be removed, that the company may face registry sanctions, or that the authorities may be notified. No breakdown of the fee, reasonable transition period or plan for returning the documents is offered. For a customer living outside Estonia this can mean the company is left unprotected until a new provider is found. (Opinion: answering a price objection with reminders of service cut-offs and sanctions is a way of pressuring the customer into accepting the price.)

This card describes a complaint type rather than one incident; details may vary from report to report.

Evidence: Dated e-mails, invoices and payment records are kept on file; they are not published here to protect identities, and are shared with the authorities and with the company under the right of reply.

How to recognise this situation

  • A fee objection is answered with a service cut-off or sanctions instead of a price explanation.
  • Removal of the contact-person or address entry is announced with a deadline.
  • No plan for returning documents and transferring the company is offered.

Questions to ask the provider

  • What is the breakdown of the fee and what work does it cover?
  • If you end the service, on what date and by what means will you hand over documents and records?
  • How much time do you allow for a transfer before removing the contact-person entry?

What to do about this type of complaint

Reporting or sanction talk raised during a fee negotiation is not a legal step but a means of pressure; keep the correspondence and answer with a calm, short notice. If your records are in order there is nothing to do; the real routes are a payment-channel dispute and, if needed, the payment order procedure.
