Complaint
VAT and currency not stated in the quote: the invoice comes in above the quote
In the reported cases the quote is a single figure; whether VAT is included, in which currency the amount is, and to which account payment goes is not stated. When the invoice arrives it is above the quote and the difference is explained as “tax” or “exchange rate”. After paying, the customer may receive a second invoice for the difference. (Opinion: leaving VAT and currency out of a quote is not an oversight for a provider selling accounting services but a choice; the customer always pays the figure above the quote, never the one below.)
This card describes a complaint type rather than one incident; details may vary from report to report.

How to recognise this situation
- The quote is a single figure with no “incl. VAT” or “excl. VAT”.
- The currency or payment account is not stated.
- The invoice arrives above the quoted amount.
Questions to ask the provider
- Is this amount including or excluding VAT?
- In which currency, and from which company, will the invoice be issued?
- If the invoice differs from the quote, how is that announced in writing?
What to do about this type of complaint
Judge the price against a published price list and a written scope, not against a quote alone; have the renewal rule written into the contract and compare with the listed prices of providers on the e-Residency Marketplace. Pay by card where possible so that a dispute route stays open if the service is not delivered.
